All about Best Paws 1-2-1

Steve and his black labrador, Rockie. Rockie is focused on a frisbee.

My name's Steve and I've always loved training dogs. My first, a black labrador named Rockie, was adopted from the SSPCA. He was very reactive to other dogs and was scared of household items - like the hoover and long electrical cables. I was the only person he didn't bark at in the centre, and that's when my dog-training journey started.

Through help from a professional dog trainer, and a lot of hard work by me, Rockie became the dog I always dreamed of. Now, retired from the Fire Service, and with a cocker spaniel called Truffle, my journey continues. Every day is an opportunity to train and have fun.

I love working with dogs and supporting their owners. I believe that through good leadership (demonstrated by your dog paying attention to you), your dog will look to you for guidance to help them make good decisions. By ensuring our training is consistent and fair, this will help communicate with our dogs. And by rewarding good behaviour, we can teach them what we want them to do. Basic obedience helps massively towards this.

At Best Paws 1-2-1, my aim is to provide real solutions to the most common challenges that dog owners face. Through patient, friendly coaching and applying kind, approachable, and humane principles, I'm here to help you alleviate all of that unwanted stress and enjoy your walks together.

No matter which service you book with me, you'll learn everything you need to  know about raising a respectful and problem-free four-legged friend.
